Executive Staff![]() Mr. Henry Stuart ReevesAdvisor on Historical Japanese WeaponryHenry studied with The Open University, achieving a Batchelor of Science Degree, a Diploma in Social Policy and Criminology and The Certificate in Social Science, a member of the Northern To-Ken.. All of this to better assist him in his search for knowledge relative to Japanese Social Structure and its relativity to the west.
"On receiving from a relative a Japanese Military Officers battle sword as a gift in 1945 ,I became fascinated with its manufacture, and the fact that it was treated with some degree of awe between fighting men of all branches.
My family came from a line of engineers and I had the same interest. I slowly developed an interest in the manufacture of the sword and also the men who made them, especially their social structure and looking for similarities to us. This has continued and widened to the present day to include a social study of the Japanese family structures associated with weapons manufacture from the late middle ages to the Meiji period. It became obvious that no social study could be undertaken without due consideration to The Samurai, their history, their accomplishments and of course the weapons they used. This brings the study of the famous Japanese sword very much to the fore as it was a close quarter weapon, manufactured in the second world war where the predominant weapons were distance weapons like firearms; It was now becoming clear that much more was attached to this weapon than just a weapon. It clearly is a serious part of the aura of all things militarily Japanese" | ||
